Dressage is both a stand alone discipline and a phase in Combined Driving Events. It is the training of the horse to strengthen and supple the horse and is judged by how the horse and driver perform a series of movements according to the level they are competing at. The horse needs to show freedom and regularity of paces and harmony with the driver.
ACDS Dressage Competitions are held regularly and competitors may compete at Preliminary, Novice, Elementary, Intermediate, Open and Advanced levels depending on the training and experience of the horse.
State Championships are held each year with drivers qualifying their horse by attending competitions to gain eligibility.
In Victoria each discipline is overseen by a Convenor and a panel of members particularly interested in that discipline. Convenors and panels give guidance to clubs on their events, programs and the rules pertaining to that discipline.
